I think I can truly say that I am enjoying being single. And I think that the biggest part of it has to do with the fact that for the first time in several decades, I don't have to be accountable to anyone, with the exception of God, for anything I do.
Yes, I have friends, but they rarely stop by for anything, let alone a cup of coffee. I have family, but they live a small distance and we only get together when we can, and sometimes that's, maybe, once a year.
I enjoy the single life, and when I can get it, the serentiy of being able to sit down, finish another chapter in my book or start a new one. Just being able to enjoy the things that I could not earlier in life.
I've been divorced for many, many years and during that time I've been responsible for others, now they're gone, and I don't feel alone. I feel emancipated. Unbound! Free!

I am happily single, but since I have no children or immediate family, I still long to find a companion to share simple things with in my old age...like a morning cup of coffee.

I totally love being single and retired. I can do what I want, when I want, come and go as I please, eat a bowl of cereal for supper if I want etc. I'm not saying I was tied down when I was married or in a relationship but it's just different. I have been divorced for 30 years and have chosen to not be in a relationship for the past five years. Yipee....I'm free! Now I'm not saying there won't be a nice gentleman in my future....just not now.

I would say at this point that I am borderline. There are days when I am glad I am single and days when I am not so glad. Especially around the holidays.
