I recently visited Jordan and while there, somebody else (a so called expert) changed my internet settings so that I could access a local network. Unfortunately, now I'm back in the UK I can't connect to my home network. My connection manager can 'see' the network and even says it is connected, but when I use IE or Firefox I get nothing (page cannot be displayed/proxy server refusing connections). I have a BT home hub and have accessed the admin area and looked at the settings, everything appears to be fine. I have checked the WEP keys are correct, rebooted, disabled firewalls, etc and can't think of anything else to try. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

Use are set to use a "proxy" server. Go to your IE/Firefox settings , under Connections - LAN settings under IE and uncheck and remove the Proxy server settings. I dont recall the firefox but I think its under the advanced tab-network.

I don't know much about UK systems but if it's XP try changing your preferred wireless networks in your properties in the wireless connection.
Start>connect to>show all connections>right click your wireless network>properties> Wireless networks.
