Let's find the y and x intercepts.
The y int is where x is zero.
8(0)-2y=16
-2y=16
y=-8

The x int is where y is zero.
8x-2(0)=16
8x=16
x=2

We have the points (intercepts)
Y int: (0,-8)
X int: (2,0)

Plot these points then connect them with a line. This is your line.

Let x=0
Then -2y = 16
therefore y=-8 and (0,-8) is on the graph(on the y axis)
Let y=0
then 8x=16 therefore x=2 and the point (2,0) is on the line. (it is a point on the x axis.

Put these points on graph paer after you draw and scale the x and y axes. Join the two points and produce a bit further to demonstrate that the line is infinite in length.

x Intercept

Y = 0

8x - 2y = 16

8x - 2(0) = 16

8x - 0 = 16

8x = 16

Divide both sides of the equation by 8

8x / 8 = 16 / 8

x = 16/8

x = 2

y - intercept

x = 0

8x - 2y = 16

8(0) - 2y = 16

0 - 2y = 16

- 2y = 16

Divide both sides of the equation by - 2

- 2y / - 2 = 16 / - 2

y = - 16/2

y = - 8
