I loved them. I remember Ma Kettle saying something like "I used to have an hourglass figure, but the sands shifted." Now I can relate to that!

When I was a pre school child, my mother went into town about every week or two. We would shop, stop at the "dime" store and buy a little candy or nuts then go to the movies. Pa and Ma Kettle and Frances the Talking Mule were my favorites.

I loved Marjorie Maine(?) the old movies were the best. Pa Kettle was a real funny character too.

They were hilarious! I loved the movie where they went to New York, but I think my favourite of theirs was Ma and Pa Kettle at Home. Marjorie Main was brilliant -- the voice and those facial expressions were priceless. I enjoyed her in the Lucy & Desi movie, The Long, Long Trailer, too; she departed from Lucy's party as quickly as she arrived.

How I loved those not only as a kid, but have seen one on
cable. Growing up I saw them in the theater. I didn't see "The
egg and I", until after getting cable years ago.
Too bad they didn't make as many movies as they had in
the "Andy Hardy" series. I loved that series too. But didn't
see many of them til we got cable as well. I don't remember seeing any of those in the theatre for some reason. Those were the days when you were taken to the movies because there wasn't such a thing as a baby sitter. Unless your grandma came over to do the job.
I remember in theaters they had a special glassed in room
up where the bleachers were, and it was sound proofed so
that parents could take their kids in there and any noise
couldn't be heard outside of the room. So mothers that had
fussy babies would take them in there and still be able to
watch the movie if they could, of course. That was in the
local neighborhood theaters, not the big ones downtown.
I wonder if other cities had those sound proofed rooms?

I loved those movies. Margery Main and Guy Kibbee. They were such fine actors. I have seen both do such a variety of rolls, but loved then as Ma and Pa.

Edit: I'm confused, someone else said Percy Kilbride. Now I don't remember for sure. I thought it was Guy Kibbee.
