It is most likely the heating element. It is similar to the coil in an oven, circular shaped in the basin. An easy fix for someone who is handy, and inexpensive to buy and replace yourself. There is actually no hot water sent to a dishwasher.
p.s. listen to mike, it should be connected to the hot water

Make sure the dishwasher is hooked up to a hot water line..usually, it's plumbed into the sink connection...sounds dumb but I've seen people hook it up to the cold. If it's plumbed into the sink connection, run your hot water tap for the sink until the water flows hot before running the dishwasher. The dishwasher should also have a heating element in the bottom to bring the temp up or keep it hot and that element may be bad.

The dishwasher is connected to your hot water line if it is connected properly. You should have hot water in it when it fills. After that the heating element in the bottom of the dish washer will keep the water hot as well as dry the dishes if you use the dry function.
If your sink has hot water then it may be connected to the cold water line instead of the hot. It is supposed to be connected to your hot water line.
If it has hot water when you first fill it then the water gets cold you can bet the heating element is shot.
You can get a new heating element on many websites or at your local appliance parts house.

Not working fine. Either the hot water tap is not turned on to the washer or there is a kink in the line, or a stoppage at the dishwasher for the hotwater not coming in.
