If she is not qualified for the position, fine. But to bring up a Halloween costume is just stupid.

The costume was NOT her costume. She ,and two other people awarded it "Most Original".

That's ridiculous...My grown son dressed as a Bud Light Girl ( guy with beard pretending to be female to get guys to buy them a beer for those who don't remember) Does that mean he is insensitive to transvestites? This is just silliness...

I heard about the public official that awarded a prize for best costume and now might lose out on confirmation.
This is taking the PC tyranny way to far. This is getting to the point where people's freedoms of expression are stifled by political correctness gone mad. My own reaction to PC garbage is to be politically incorrect (unlike that phony Bill Myer) and if someone objects, I let them have it...verbally or otherwise, and I don't back down.
Those who would judge this person on a Halloween costume are that stupid. They don't deserve her!

This is indeed ridiculous. I would call this reverse discrimination to say the lest. Looks like someone is just looking for a reason for her to not get a job. A personal vendetta maybe?

Depends which political party. Wearing a hood year round hasn't prevented democrat senator byrd from having a job.

Man they are really grasping here, huh? Anything to stir up controversy and make someone look bad.
And it happens on both sides, the smear campaigns, but at least when conservatives do that to liberals they don't say "they're racist!" they'll bring up some actual statistics or facts or something.

What I find more incredulous is that our government employees and public servants can find time to dilly-dally in an office Halloween party (at taxpayers' expense) when this country is in such chaos and crisis.
As do most government employees (federal, state and local levels), they don't take their jobs seriously - they enjoy excessive salaries, lavish benefits, and little accountability for their work. -RKO- 11/17/07

While it may seem silly, her laughing at and giving an award to an employee who obviously showed poor judgement reflects poorly on her own judgement. A woman in her position needs to not only have expertise in her chosen profession (i.e. immigration issues) but also be adept at handling PR and image.

I'll give Meyers a pass on this stupid mistake. However, if this had been a Democrat, Rush, Hannity and the rest of the cave dwellers would be calling for her scalp and you know it.

Her costume was in poor taste to say the least. She should have expected the reactions that she got.
