Absolutely not! I was raised in an abusive home, but CHOSE to not let it rule my life. I broke the pattern of abuse, firstly.
Then I decided to let go of the guilt. Yes children and adult children of abusers feel guilt. They are made to feel they are some how responsible for the abuse.
Some GOOD counseling help us to let go of the guilt and pain.
Lastly, you decide that your past WILL NOT rule your adult life, you chose to let that past go (not forget, just not let it have power over you for the rest of your life), and then TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for who you are now. Be the best adult you can be. Choose to be happy, choose to not dwell in the past.
Then your true personality will come out.
I am a true Aries, but that didn't come out UNTIL I left the past in the past and decided to live from this day forward.
It takes work, it takes great responsibility on your part to DECIDE to break that chain of abuse, but there are many of us out here who have done just that.
And NEVER, NEVER allow anyone to ever abuse you again. To allow another to abuse you, is again giving your power away. Don't let that happen.

I wish there was a petition we could sign but I don't think there is. Maybe someone could make it? Yes horoscopes are for entertainment purposes but the serious aspects of astrology should be taken more seriously as for some people they make their livelyhoods out of it what with birth charts and things just a scientist would make a living out of science and not be looked down on. Everyone is unique, and astrology is for fun. Not having fun means you wont match your astrology sign, personality wise. Perhaps astrology isn't for you. Ever try cards?

I don't think it really makes too much difference. I was raised in an abusive situation, and at first I felt I did not match my sign - virgo - at all, but as time passed, I felt I grew into it.

I dont think so. What will change will be the way you utilize aspects of your personality to certain given situations. Not to mention your sign is more of a generality to your personality things such as alignments of planets and significant astral bodies and their relationship to eachother holds more information. If you are interested you should find a legitimate source to do an astral chart for you.

Dont follow astrology it messes with your mind. You will start to anticipate stuff and brace yourself against things you think are going to happen. It will take away your spontaneity.
