Mechanical pencils for regular everday use, because then I don't have to bother sharpening them.
But for actual drawing, I prefer the old-fashined pencils because you can shade better with them.

I like mechanical pencils for writing, .05 lead, because it is always sharp and I don't have to stop mid-thought to sharpen my pencil. I can't stand writing with a dull pencil. On the other hand, I like old-fashioned pencils for drawing, as it is easier to shade with an old-fashioned pencil and you get a wider variety of values (shades).

Mechanical pencils are WAY better. I like 0.5 lead the most.
I hate sharpening those old school regular pencils >_> although I gotta admit, some of them do look pretty cool.

Funny you should ask, because I actually collect pencils. I love old fashioned regular pencils! I even order them offline from raymondgeddes.com.

"Lead" pencils really have graphite rather than lead as the medium to make marks. I like the old fashioned kind, as well as the automatic ones.

depends. old fashioned pencils are better when they are used for drawing or sketching, and lead pencils are better in writing.

The mechanical pencils, the point of the lead is always sharp. I like the .05 lead thickness best.
