1. They are discussing strategy for upcoming plays.
2. They are building team unity, working together as one unit for everything.
3. They are easy to find if there is a turnover.

They get instruction on blocking schemes and the coach uses a drawing board. It is much easier to envision what the coach is trying to get across if they are sitting as if lined up in their positions on the field.

We sit that way to discuss what the line and linebackers are doing and try to figure out what needs to be done to cover their attack. There is a reason behind it. That is also why the coach has that big white board. He draws up the defense so we can visualize what is happening.

They just dont feel right if the other guy is not always by their side...they also sleep together, putting five king size beds together in the dorm (six if they use a tight end a lot)...
