India dominated Australia in Australia last time. Laxman, Dravid, Sehwag, Sachim, Ganguly made the Australian bowling line up look ordinary.
India has been the only team to not only survive in Australia but to dominate them in a test series.
One can say that India was just a Harbhajan Singh away from winning the 2004, 4 test series in Australia.
There is only 1 batting line up good enough to seriously take on the virtually un-stoppable Australian bowlers.
We have the legends, we have the young guns. All we need is good bowling backed by good fielding.
South Africa, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand have all suffered humiliation in Australia.
The task is quite tough. The challenge in front of Indian players is huge. They are up against the toughest opposition which has destroyed each & every cricket team that exists on this planet.
But if any team can put up a fight against this champion team then it's Team India.

Try to undertsand my point here.
Australian team is 'DAMN' good, that's why i asked u - ''Can India do the 'UNBELIEVABLE' ?
I myself know that this is the toughest tast to do in world cricket but my point is that if there is any team that can do this tough task,
then it's Team India.
The pressure will be huge. Australians will take full advantage of the most minor mistakes.
Sri Lankan team has been absolutely destroyed in Australia and they have made it look impossible but the thing is that it isn't impossible.
Make no mistake about it, even the Australian players make mistakes under pressure. We just need to create those situations when the Australians tend to make mistakes.
Aggression was missing in the Lankan team & i think that's where India is ahead of Sri Lanka..
If you want to compete with this champion team , then you have to be aggressive.
Putting score on the board always helps & our batsmen are quite capable of doing it.
We need good bowling backed by good fielding

I think the Indian players should play aggressively against Australia in this upcoming series.
There should be no fear of defeat.
If we will go there with a frame of mind of just surviving then i am sure we will lose it 3-0 or 4-0.
Also, the aggression should persist throughout the 4 match series. There should not be any backward step.
Sreesanth may be expensive for odi cricket but surely he's a trump card in test cricket. He should definately play in the test team.
Anil Kumble will be the spin spearhead and i hope he will make full use of his experience.
Harbhajan will take care of the left handed batsmen & Jumbo will take care of right handed players.
I don't know about Agarkar's domestic form but a swing bowler like him is an asset against Australia.
Specially his incoming balls against left handed batsmen is quite deadly.
So, if he's fit & in form then he should be in the team..
This will be the biggest test for Indian cricketers.
Intelligent bowling & good fielding rquird

I fully agree with your observations. What is required to have an edge over Australia is either to put up a huge score against them or never allow them to take control, of the game at the begining and restrict them to a reasonable score which can be matched by india. Once India are able to do this, India have a very good chance to dictate terms with Australia.
While it will be asking too much to win a series against Australia in Australia, even if India manage to defeat them in one or two matches, it will be a great achievement.
While India's batting line up is strong, the weak link is bowling as India are having a very inexperienced pace bowling attack. Indian bowlers should concentrate to be accurate in their line and length and should not give any room to Australian batsmen to dictate terms with them. Fielders also should give good support to the bowlers.
Once these shortcomings are plugged, india have a very good chance to put Australia under pressure.

Yes and miracles can happen, but the team has to perform first
We can win a test match at Kolkatta after being asked to follow on in 2001. We can win inspite of the opponent scoring more than 500 runs in the first innings at Adelaide in 2003.
We can win while defending a total of just 140 in the 2nd innings at Melbourne in 1981. We have done and can do the unbelievable.
To every start there is a stop

Watch the Sri Lankan tour.......
A much stronger bowling than ours is struggling to get 5 top order Aussies out in an innings even......So I'm pretty much sure that Haddos is gonna rock the Indian attack and Jaques is gonna continue his glorious run......Ponting to notch up a few good runs and Hussey to continue his wonderful long run......He is the best Test Batsman at this time...........
But not to mention Sachin and Dravid playing out of their skins to save Team India from the inevitable defeat,,,,,,,,,
I think the series will be 2-0 Australia........

Hi,
India have to do the Following things right
1)Fielding
2)Catching
3)Bowling
They have to get the basic rights.. even the Mighty Goliath had a weakness.. which was the "surprise" element...A simple stone slayed From David Slayed Goliath...
Indians Has to Use our resouces well.. they may be limited but then use them to their full potential with accuarcy and sharpness... Surprise the aussies by doing something different which they will not think off , they might be strong but then we should be smart.. The surprise will unsettle them..for sure...
Cheers

i feel this series is going to be a tough fought one.the indian batting looks formidable.while it is percieved that the srilankans have better bowlimg attack, i feel the indians are better swing bowlers(as shown in away tours) and can exploit the australian conditions better than the lankans.
for me it is going to be competition between the indian and australian batsmen.
all the tests will be hard fought and i expect a 1-0 verdict in favour of the indians considering our 'BIG THREE' and 'JUMBO' may not be available for another series down under.

well I've always felt we have the potential to beat them on the day we all click...and that's not impossible....we have done it many times before..so why can't we do it now?
The whole team starting from the openers to the bowlers have to deliver at the same time.Remember the adelaide test?our batsmen sure did play well but they were backed by great bowling by our players....so a team effort is required

Look at this batting order.
Hayden
Jacques
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Symonds
Gilchrist
Ponting with an average of 59.27 is outshone by at least three.Compared to this, their bowling is not as threatening. If they bat first India will surely have to face a huge total.
If toss is favourable to India,Indian batsmen should post as big a total as the Aussies do.The Aussies are playing at a high confidence level.Only if it is dented they can be beaten. But how?It is too much to expect, though as you have said India is one of the few countries capable of coming close to it.
