anti virus programme?

Hi I think I may have a virus on my computer as it is going very slow. So I was wondering if anyone knows of a good anti virus software which is free. I have avg but that doesn't seem to have helped. Thankyou in advance.

Why is my computer slow? I bet you have asked yourself that very question time and time again. And for the most part, you probably just can not figure it out. For your anti-virus needs, I would suggest Avira AntiVir® PersonalEdition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than most "paid-for" anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources. Uses less then 10 MB RAM on my machine. And did I mention that it's free!

You are correct to avoid the free version of an anti-virus AVG, it is wildly popular with noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children, but it has horrible virus detection capibilities.

But you MUST uninstall AVG before installing ANY other anti-virus program. Running 2 A-Vs can cause a major conflict.

I would strongly suggest that you also run a good anti-spyware, if you are not already. SUPERAntiSpyware:

I have also used AVG wasn't bad but I found Avast much better either way these are the best 2 free ones out there, you dont notice the drain on system resources like you do with McAfee and especially Norton I have never had a virus problem since using Avast.

I'm going to guess that you don't have a virus, but you have spyware instead. Try downloading a couple of good anti virus programs. Here's a couple of I like.

I use both nortons and webroot. webroot is an anti-virus and spyware program. it removes viruses and cookies that could be slowing down your computer
