When you have grown and matured so much over the last year that your prespective on life has changed so that you know what you don't want , how can you figure out what you do want?

I think that the term "lost who you are" should be rephrase into something else. I dont think that people lost a sense of theirselves. Instead, they were influence by others in which case, someone else's self overlap their own.

I also think that sooner or later, one is bound to get back their old selves. I figured quite some time ago that people don't change. So if they do, it's just an illusion they give theirselves or given by others.

you dont lose or find yourself, you create yourself
sometimes this takes discarding some things, then perhaps returning to them later, in the same way or varied
once you eliminate what you dont want, how you dont wish to be, you look for things/ways you do wish to be, observe life and others, so look around at the world, but also look within yourself, you will know what feels right and what doesnt, in the long term,
there are many areas of life, family, health, spiritual, mental, occupation, etc etc, you must find what fits in each area for you, so think and contemplate and discover and develop each part of yourself, step by step, its a lifelong task so dont feel you must rush, just learn and grow

One can never "lose themselves". We should constantly be learning and growing as a person. Do you want to be the same person that you were when you were a child or even 1 year ago? People change as they learn. All that you should really want in life is to be happy and to help those in your life to be happy.

It's only through your own experience that you will learn what you want and what you don't. Whatever the experience you gain in life be it happy, painful, anger, sorrow etc... it will contribute to the building of your character and what you believe in. This will then guide you and your action throughout your life. As you evolve, learn and grow, you will know what you really want in life and go for it. Don't be afraid to try new things and make mistakes (as long as it's not life threatening ones!!!) cos it's only through this that you learn who you are and what you want.

we always learn from our mistakes,,
for example, say i put my finger on a flame of fire, my finger starts to burn, someone insists me to put water on it,,

so what i know is, next time when anyone's or my finger burns, water should be poured, or better would be ice.

similarly, when u say go for one side, and u don't feel it proper,(becoz ur mind has matured as u get experience of one more year), thats why u know that u should go for the other side as remaining in the same side doesn't make sense,
all we think during making decision is "what makes sense!"

If I was ever lucky enough to lose myself; I wouldn't want to find me. Unfortunately I carry so much baggage I move slowly and would never be able to outrun myself.

It takes a lot of thought to know which direction you want to go.
