Also the signature on the cashier check is is fresh, it deosn't show that it was a copy, and the back of the cashier check look like the back of any real check.

Call that bank and ask, but those cashier's checks do have security marks of some type.

The scammers can buy the same paper that is used for the legit cashiers checks - it's not hard to buy.

I sell a legitimate product that deals with checks and uses check paper. I was looking for the check paper @ staples about two years ago in my area and was told they'd stopped selling it because they learned it was used for fraud. So I had to find another supplier.

As others have written you can call the bank (there should be a bank's name and phone # on the face of the check) to verify funds. CALL even if it's long distance - it'll only take a minute.

if you havent deposited a check from the company before and funds "seem" to be present, you want to wait 3-10 days after depositing before you use that money. If anything goes wrong, its your a--.

They didn't ask you to send them any money back, did they? That's DEFINITELY a scam.

Good luck.

Whatever you do, do NOT cash the check and give somebody else the money until you wait a couple of weeks to make sure it really cleared. The scammers will send you a check for "too much" and ask for a refund of the difference. Don't fall for that...the bank may honor the check at first, but come after you later when it is found to be fraudulent.

Contact the bank that issued it. A counterfeiter is obviously going to make an exact a copy as possible of a check, so the only way to know for sure is to ask the institution that issued the check if it is legit.

Most cashier's checks say that. If someone tries to copy it, the security feature brings out the words (VOID).
