There is not that much to fear about death. It is a lot like falling asleep. Often, people are unconscious when they die, and therefore are not suffering. If you do suffer in pain, death puts a stop to that, and comes as a relief. It is odd in a way that young people fear death more than older people. Over the years as we get older we often accept that death is inevitable, and we have seen people and pets die, and we realize it is just how life on earth ends. And we make our peace with it. There is nothing we can do to prevent it, so why focus on it.
If you believe in an afterlife which is even better than our life here on this plane, that is a great consolation. I see death as a transition to a higher plane, and in a way that process seems the great adventure of my existence. Finally, so many questions will be answered, and we will embark on another amazing adventure. I believe that we will see our loved ones there, and our pets, and we will see and experience our creator. And we will learn how to be a better person, the person we want to be.
I don't know for sure that all of this is true, and I don't believe that anyone on earth knows for sure what lies beyond. So given that we do not know, is it better to believe in an afterlife, or to believe that death is the end to our existence? How does either option affect how you feel and how you live your life now? For me, there is no question which is the more uplifting and encouraging belief, so in the absence of absolute evidence, I choose to believe what is positive.

It sounds as though you are having a temporary obsession with the thought of death. There are two things to consider:
1) Are you on any medication for anxiety or clinical depression or bi-polar disorder? Perhaps you should be.
2) Considering the inevitability of death and its consequences can be quite an experience. Of course, there are unknown factors which add to the situation. We have have beliefs about what happens at death and no one has a definite answer. So it is tough to deal with the question. I would suggest that you share your concerns with someone whom you respect and trust. They should understand that you are trying to come to a resolution of some kind; even if that resolution is to not know what happens. Don't ponder this alone for too long; you probably need a loved one's input.
My personal experience with considering death was a bit of an adventure. In the end, I concluded for myself that death is the absolute end of my existence, that I would continue in no manner whatsoever. Then I accepted it. Now I do not fear death at all. When it eventually comes about, I will not fight it or fear it. My own personal thought is that at the end, I will say, "The hard part is over. I can really take a rest now and no one will bother me." I am satisfied with my own conclusion.

I don't think anyone who is alive knows the answer for sure. We know that it is inevitable at some point in time for everyone. It is a natural occurrence. I think some fear of death is healthy and natural too. You are supposed to try to survive and avoid a premature death. Since there are so many different beliefs and theories as to what happens to us after we die, I will not add my opinion, because honestly, I don't know. But maybe by reading what religious experts, psychics, philosophers and others have to say about it you can decide which view makes the most sense to you.

First of all, don't join Islam. You obviously have no desire to die, and I assure that that a dynamite backpack will kill you. Death is just the shut down of your body. Whether or not there is more afterwards is immaterial. When you die your body simply shuts down, stops working. LIke turning off your car. No point in fearing it. It isn't necessarily bad, and since it's inevitable, just accept it and don't think about it. It's just the natural end to life.
Seriously though, stay away from Islam. That is psychosis, which I fear more than death.

it is an opinion thing. what you believe is totally up to. all answers are unproven and so you can say watever you want about it because there is no way to disprove you.
this is what i think: death is when you time on earth is over.you have to except that your time will come when you have to go and that death is just a new place. i believe that after death you go to pergatory where you are either excepted into heaven or sent to hell. death should be a time of joyous mourning. you are gone to us but, you are in a better place without suffering and worries.
add: rayb1214 dont steryotype its not nice and its wrong

Yeah sure, join Islam, that's the solution to your problem...give me a break! Just enjoy life and don't think about death (don't make foolish choices but don't worry about something that is inevitable).

Death is inevitable, it can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone,,,but for a person who has developed a strong faith in his creator, death becomes a normal natural thing to face...in fact he is happy to die and finally meet his creator..death is another life without any worries, fears, anxieties, it is all heaven-like..........how to avoid fearing death...face it, face your fear, everyday you encounter death, so meaning you should always be ready, and to ready yourself for that, increase your faith, build your faith and have faith that there is really God, and when your time comes,..it is really your time!!!

Welcome to the human race; glad to have you. Everyone's a bit afraid of the unknown, and even great faith cannot make death other than unknown.
