Andrew M you almost got the best answer, but your remark about the Republicans I have to disagree with, if she had been a Democrat nothing would of been said, its only the fact that she is a Republican that she is even being singled out. Seems to me that Democrats are given a pass about 99% of the time.

Who or what?
Anyway, I would not be offend if a black person dressed like a white, chuncky, senior citizen like myself.
Too much ado about nothing these days.

Let's see, she's a high-ranking official in a department that deals with lots of foreigners.

She hosts a party, and votes for the person in blackface and dreadlocks as the best costume, has her picture taken with the person by a government photographer, then has at least one of the photographs destroyed, which, since they were taken by a government photographer with government equipment, she can't do.

They shouldn't have put a "hold" on her nomination. Her nomination should be voted on and rejected. No matter what you feel about political correctness and race relations, her stupidity, alone, disqualifies her from holding any position.

Or, in this administration, if it still had a Republican Congress, it would be used as a qualifier, I guess.

It would be do much ado over nothing, if it weren't for the fact that one of the problems with her is that shes thought not to be experienced enough for the job, and shes shown bad judgment here. If shes going to head up a large office she needs to show she respects people and awarding a prize to a dreadlocked convict in stripes and blackface is stupid, if not insulting. She's going into Immigration, and she shows no sensitivity to racial stereotyping. Its no wonder they are taking a second, and third look, will she do the job and bring credit to the country, or will we one day hear those stirring words.."You are doing a heckuva job Julie"?

Hopefully they will refuse to confirm her. This incident is so openly racist that there is no possibility of there being any excuse. Julie Myers has revealed herself to be an out-and-out racist and is not fit to serve as dogcatcher, much less as head of the immigration agency.

She should lose the nomination I agree with Andrew on this thread.
