Can they both handle word processing and internet use?
As well as storage of hundreds of word processing files?
Even if between 5 and 10 or more windows are open at any one time?

They'll both handle things like word processing and Internet usage although those aren't exactly demanding.

Having 10 or more windows open at any one time is not all all strange (I've done is on computers far less powerful than even the cheapest laptops you can buy today).

The main difference between them would be if you need to do serious number crunching say for games or scientific computing.

Celeron is designed for simple usage. It can handle word processing and internet use but not a lot at a time. It can't handle anything heavy.

Duo Cores can multi-task with ease because it streams tasks through 2 processing units. It's on a whole new level to Celerons.

Multiple processors are good for running multiple applications and completing multiple tasks simultaneously. The processor has nothing to do with storage, that is what your hard drive is for. If you have 5 or 10 windows open, your processor will affect how fast your applications run. It also has to do with how much RAM you have and how fast your RAM is.
