I went for a trans vaginal ultrasound yesterday and they didn't see a heart beat, but they also said they weren't sure if they were seeing the embryo or not because it was fuzzy. There was a gestational sac that measured six weeks and 2 days. They warned me that I will probably miscarry, but I have talked to other women who have told me that their 3 month ultrasound didn't get a heart beat at first and that they had to lay there for 3 hours while the technician looked for it. Any thoughts?

Maybe they have your conception date wrong and you not that far along just yet?
I know At 8 weeks The risk of miscarriage decreases sharply at the beginning of the fetal stage.

Hope things work out for you! :)

I lost twins back in june. I had one at 7 weeks 2days and the other one was 8 weeks 3 days. I had no heartbeat on 2 ultrasounds. I would ask for another one in a week to make sure. Thats how I did it. Just to be sure!! Sorry to hear the sad news!! just remember God gives us many more chances and if you do miscarry you can try again after your period cycle clears.

Six weeks is early to expect to hear a heartbeat, even for an ultrasound, so I would not worry yet. They should not have told you that you will "probably miscarry."

Just be on the lookout for any bleeding or painful cramps.

Otherwise, relax and say a little prayer. All is not lost. I didn't hear my baby's heartbeat until 9 weeks and she was fine.

i went for a vaginal scan at about three weeks due to bleeding there was a heartbeat. i was still bleeding slightly and went for another scan a week later and there was no heartbeat. so i had miscarried. i would prepare yourself for the worst and if the worst i'm sorry for you i know what's it's like cos when you see a heartbeat you get attached straight away and then when it's not there it is very upsetting. i hope everything does turn out o.k for you.

I didnt hear my babys heart beat at my first ultrasound when i was six weeks!!!

Im now 35 weeks preg with a baby boy!!!

I think six weeks is far too early and why did he keep you there for three hours??? Sounds a bit fishy id change dr's if i was you.

Good luck and take care!!!

I went for one u/s at 6 weeks and it was there. But that does not mean that your little one's little heart won't start beating anytime now. I know how hard it is to not know. I hope that things work out and you find that little h/b soon. Good luck
