Take responsibility for yourself! Do you think god is just sitting around waiting for your "cry of help" & will immediately fix it?
Someone said depression is spiritual. It is NOT. I don't really think you're depressed at all, just living life as most people do, making their own decisions, but YOU want to lean, to relinquish personal responsibility, like a small child who has no choice but to look to their "father."
I've counselled so many with your mindset. Just pick yourself up, brush yourself off, & get on with it. Your life will have whiskers before your god will "give" you (on demand!) more gifts that you could easily obtain for yourself.

I wonder what makes you believe God "gave" you your good job & education. Wasn't it your actions, & efforts that accomplished these things? The implication seems to be that you must be favoured by God to be given such gifts; then, how would one perceive the jobless, uneducated person? Coal in his/her Christmas stocking?
Your premise is like that of the tooth fairy. Yet, if you truly believe God knows you need help, it's not my province to dissuade you. However, I'd strongly suggest that if you're depressed & uncertain, you put YOUR energy into discovering the cause, & the solution. Depending on the degree of your depression, you might consider seeking professional counsel & not simply focus on "making" God help you.

Instead of relying on a god to help you, why not take on the responsibility for your own life? Look to yourself to make what you want come true. If it doesn't come true the way you want it to, perhaps you are going about it wrongly. Search your deepest self, understand what you are doing wrong, change yourself and try again.
In order to become un-depressed, you need to work on your own thoughts, feelings, and ways you look at life. Take responsibility for those things, change them for the better, work at learning ways to stay happy, become aware of the beautiful things in your life instead of dwelling on the bad. Only you can make you happy. It takes a lot of work, time and effort. But, I am proof that it works.
Stop looking to a god, others, religion or philosophies to make you happy, only you can do that. Fill up the emptiness left, when you leave sorrow behind, with positives, whatever those positives may be. Research what would help you stay in a good frame of mind, then go for them.

You are right... depression is a Spiritual problem. And the above response is right.... help yourself. Those two ideas GO TOGETHER when God is understood in the right way.
You are made in God's image... so the solution is to become familiar with your deep "inner Self" which has those good and uplifting qualities.
A good step would be to learn Yoga. That practice is made to "reconnect" you to your "higher Self"
This may not sound like a great answer... but do it and you will find that it Does Work.
Best to get personal instruction in Yoga but if that is not possible, check out the links in the Leap Over Web Clutter section on this website. The first book on this website would be a help too.
Best wishes to you.

Firstly, thank Him for the gifts, as you would anyone else who cares about you and has given you a gift. Talk to God in ordinary, everyday language, as you would a caring friend. Ask God what use he wants you to make of the gifts He has given you, and to direct your footsteps and show you the way. A very wise woman I once knew said to me 'When you've tried everything and you're really up against the wall, just 'Let Go and Let God'. Bless you.

first, whether you you like it or not god is still with you and still giving you gifts.
the gift of the early morning rays, a childs innocent but whole hearted smile, the starry moonless night, the less starry full moon night............ the list is endless.
take a step back from whatever you are doing, take a deep breath, concentrate on the god you love and ...... the energy starts to flow back.
god is with you and within you.

One of the best cures for depression is to find someone who really has problems and help them out. Helping others is one of the best ways of finding joy.
Another reason for lack of direction and depression is not using your talents, or following your dreams. Be willinging to ask yourself or God what you should be doing, then have the courage to do it.

You can't make God help you. God helps those who help themselves. He already has helped you, he gave you a good job, education and the biggest one he gave you, Life.Your life is going to be what you make it. If you make it hard, it will be hard. You have to start the process of healing yourself of your problems and then God will help.

The obvious value to religion is that you get to transfer responsibility. If you find out that that is not working for you, and you are very fortunate, you may recognize something.
Take care of yourself yourself.
