If everybody waited for the other person to make the first move where would we be. I always go for it and nearly every time have got a positive response. Don't be put off if you don't, the other person may just be having an off day or may just be an unsociable git. It is amazing the people you will get to meet and what you will learn.

At school and stuff, I make the first move. If I was the new girl, (I go to an all-girls' school) I would be embarrassed and shy so I think she would feel easier when someone talked to her first. But usually when it comes to making friends online, I don't make the first move. Sometimes I do, though. Depends.

I mostly wait for other people to make the first move, but I try also to make sure that (if I'm around only people I don't know) that I engage people in disussions so that I can get a good idea of who would be a good friend to me and to make myself known. But I'm also very extroverted so I usually express myself in a dramatic way when in a situation I'm unfamiliar with...
Pointers for people who find it difficult-
1) If you smile and look them in the eyes you look much, much more attracive to them!
2) Don't hide or avoid talking to people.
3) Be more relaxed around strangers, but make sure they're not the type that will hurt you first
4) STAND YOUR GROUND!!! Don't bend to other people's opinions just so that you can fit in, people apreciate the fact that you're honest about what you think but don't get carried away and run off in a huff! that's no way to make friends either!!!

Friendship usually comes naturally. If you like someone then invite them to your next event. Invite them to come with there other friends, eventually you will all be friends and inviting them to stuff will seem obvious. So yes make a move and dont stress over it. Whats the worst that can happen ?

Friends - I will make the first move.

A potential lover - I will make eye contact a few times or chat but the ball is in his court!
