Why in "much ado about nothing" does borachio create such a deceptive plan ?

Don John feels slighted, as he must live under the shadow of his brother Don Pedro. What makes matters worse is that Don Pedro is loved by all and can do no wrong.

Don John therefore uses his confidant Borachio to deceive Claudio and Don Pedro into believing that Hero is unworthy of receiving Claudio's hand in marriage. He was seeking any course possible to spread some misery around Leonato's villa.

When people are miserable, they often times look for ways to make those around them miserable as well because they get satisfaction out of it. There is a word which may be of use: "SCHADENFREUDE."
