I walked into an agency that required me to have at least a years worth of employment with one company. The last company that I worked for, only lasted 6 months. My petty theft conviction was obtained, earlier this year, and I was thinking of using my cousin's limo business as a reference, so that I can get this job. For some reason they are taking me through alot, and I've been told by an employee there, that they are basically discriminating against me, more so because of my femininity than because if my record. After all, what am I going to do, stick a piece of scrap metal in my underwear and walk out with it? My record has nothing to do with a welding position. I'm not applying at a bank. My cousin does have her own licensed limo business, and I have worked with her, as far as cleaning out limos and doing driving jobs for her, but the business is slowing down and not much money is coming in. I worked for her off and on, for a few years, but got paid in cash. Can I still use her?

I'm obviously not going to tell them that she's related to me. I did have one job at a hospital ask for a pay stub, but this rarely happens. Also, if I was not at the job for a year AFTER the conviction, will it still count?

Yeah, make sure your cousin can vouch for your employment with hr-in a positive way.
And the place that asked for a pay stub? That's none of their business. No one has the right to ask for a former pay stub.
Except the IRS.
