I could live a free feel good life while upholding my moral standards. Most of the times its hard to be a good person. I cannot express how hard it can be. But then, living a moral life enables one to feel good. Living a moral life don't restrain us from anything except immoral things. And being moral doesn't mean that one should be perfect.

Upholding moral standards is often directly related to emotional happiness. There are momentary pleasures which give happiness for a time but if you have morals to begin with..you have a conscience too. That is what bites you in the end.I feel like life should be lived as one chooses but never do what you can't sleep with that night.

"Our two minds .... One is an act of the emotional
mind, the other of the rational mind. In a very
real sense we have two minds, one that thinks and
one that feels" (Daniel Goleman, Emotional
Intelligence, Bloomsbury Publishing, London, 1996,
page 8). This rational mind is also called the
faculty of logic and reason.

The Upanishads say that these two are opposite in
nature. Modern psychologist also have observed it,
but they are not very sure about it:

"At the same time, reason sometimes clearly seems
to come into conflict with some desires (even
while not being in conflict with others) giving us
the impression that reason is separate from
emotion".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reason

The rational mind deals with morality and tries
to integrate one's thoughts. The emotional
mind leads the opposite way.

Moral, an over-used term to beat us into submission using guilt!

I believe, as long as you are not causing harm to another human and you feel love and joy in your heart and soul, you are choosing the right path for you.

WHAT moral standards are you referring to?

Usually, sex is the issue here. I'm not sure that what you're referring to but if it is, I think "God" has more important things to do than worry about what we do in our beds and with whom.

Only people who have no lives of their own, care what goes on in other people's houses.

I know my life would not fit into most people's definition of "moral" but it is very ethical. I am totally honest with my self and others. I do not lie, cheat or steal. I have dedicated my life to the service others for the last 22 years, in return for my income.

The person I live with is here from free choice and our relationship enriches us both and others with whom we associate.

My heart feels light, my conscience is clear and I am happy.

False alternative. You can't achieve happiness by being irrational and immoral. I'd rather be moral and happy than immoral and unhappy (and likely in jail).

i think if you are true to your emotions then your moral beliefs will shine thru. if you dont really believe the way you live, then morals are pointless, just trying to be something your not.
