Buy a regular snow blower.
The attachment takes time to attach & you'll wear out your lawn mower pushing heavy snow. Better & easier to have a snow blower just for removing snow. The snow blower is easier to manipulate in smaller spaces, too.
Been there, done that :)

That is a good question. A tractor mount is fairly expensive (Average $1200 - $1500), where as a walk behind can be cheaper (Starting around $300). The big question is how much snow do you get? If you live in Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, I would recommend a Large frame walk behind or a tractor mount model. If you are in Kentucky, Missouri, Virginia where you only get a couple inches a year ,if you are lucky, then the smaller walk behinds are the way to go.
Then there is also the area you are clearing. If you have just sidewalks, or a single car drive, then the smaller walk behinds. If you have a long or large drive, then the tractor mount is a good way to go.
This Toro site; http://www.toro.com/home/cgi-bin/selcsnow.cgi has a great tool to help you in your decision. I'm not saying you have to buy a Toro, but they are a good brand.
Good luck!

If you have a lot to blow get a tractor mount. I have a 425 John Deere with a 47" blower. Works great and will blow through anything.
