Learned. We are born with the capacity for this kind of behavior, but not the need to do it.
If you were born in isolation you would not grow up feeling a great need to find others to teach and many people don't even like to teach others.

I would say that learning things is part of our nature. So we would be teaching others even if we didnt know it. Humans pick up things really easy. You will notice that when you have a kid if you have not already. :)

To a certain type of personality especially, sharing what you know pays terrific personal rewards. It's a little bit ego, a little beaming-child pride, as in "Oh look what I know!"
