I agree with Laela. Why ask the question if you know you already look big in whatever. The best answer is the truth, whether it looks big or not. If you say no and then their girlfriends say they look horrible after they blame you. Say yes and you're a jerk. I just don't get that part of some females.
I just ask whether I look good in whatever I have on. And unlike some women, I actually want to know whether I look good or not. I don't want to be walking around like an idiot.

That was one question I never asked; if I thought it looked big, of course it would be true. So, why get the assurance of a hoped for lie just to make me feel falsely better? Makes no sense at all.

I like Lioness' answer! She's right -- tell your sweetie that her bootie turns you on, and that if she doesn't like the dress take it off, and you two can spend the rest of the evening in bed.
You'd be surprised how stroking someone's ego can make them get in great shape. They'll do it just to get the great answers out of you.

I honestly don't see why anyone would ask a question like that. If it does look big, you'll know.
