Hair is used to help evaporate perspiration. As perspiration evaporates it takes away heat and helps keep the area cool. I think maybe we were designed to keep our legs straight most of the time and minimize perspiration behind the knees.

Also armpit hair helps prevent friction where the arms can move laterally but the knees only open and close and don't need this friction reduction.

good queation, mabye cause your knees are always movin? your arm pits don't get that much light too? its like why does your back get more hair than your front? exposed areas like your lower legs and forearms get more too? never any hair between your toes or fingers but on the back of them! not palm or bottom of feet?

If you really think about it, your armpits are akin to your crotch, not your knees. If you have reached puberty, you probably have some hair there.

If you want to grow them on your legs then why not use a scissors and a superglue?
