I have removed all the screws/nails and am left with holes all over our thin coat plaster over wallboard walls. Do people usually just leave these as is or do they repair prior to moving out?

The home is sold. Everything was on the walls when they looked at the home. Now I have taken everything down off the walls and the holes are left. What do people normally do in this situation? Leave the holes as is or patch them all and spot paint? I am also wondering because we are moving into our new house and they had a ton of stuff on the walls also.

Not unless you are prepared to paint the walls also. Unless the paint on the walls is fairly new repairing a small hole and spot painting will look much worse than doing nothing. Also, chances are the new owners will want to repaint everything anyway!

Since the home is sold, you do not "need" to patch the holes. If you decide to do so, use a quick dry spackle avaialble at HD. However, keep in mind that once you fill the holes, then the walls will be spotted with the spackle and the new homeownwers would either need to use the same holes, or repaint the rooms you use the spackle on.

You would be the exception if you repaired the holes. I have bought 5 homes and none have ever had the holes filled and painted. Although a nice thing to do, it is not required unless the holes are huge.

since your house has already sold and the new buyers did not ask for the walls to be repainted or repaired i would do nothing . they will probably have it done themselves.sometimes touch ups are worse than the holes depending on how old your paint is or if you smoke inside or have gas heat

It would be better if you filled them so they aren't as noticeable or you may have trouble selling your place. And depending on when you last painted, it might be nice to fresh coat everything so it has a crisp, new look, otherwise your patch painting might not look too good in the eyes of a buyer.

Good luck.

if the house is already sold I would not worry about them as the new owner will likely repaint any way
