Gift cards to places to eat... or places to "indulge" oneself (bookstore, bath and body store, etc..) are always nice.
Also, since many teachers spend their own money on classroom supplies, consider maybe a gift card to the local teacher supply store.
An ornament that the child makes is also a very nice and treasured gift. In fact, any homemade gift, especially made by the child is a very thoughtful gift.
You can't go wrong with a teacher mug, or any mug with a nice saying or scene on it.
Magnets for the file cabinet, pens in colors other than black, blue, or red...
The fact that you want to acknowledge these people is noble and good. It really is, in the teacher's mind, the thought that counts...

When I was little, giving the teachers Christmas presents were my favorite thing!
Me and my mom would love to go shopping for them!
We would give them either --
1) Candle with a Christmas Card
2) "Snowman Soup" --
This consisted of a Snowman mug, hot chocolate packets, and 2 candycanes. They're supposed to make the Hot Chocolate in their mug and mix with the Candycanes, making a minty hot chocolate ..
But, Snowman soup is better. Hehe.
3) My mom loved to make fudge for them, I think that was a favorite. Lol.

If you can afford it, even a little gift certificate ($10) at Target is great. Or, a picture frame (little one)? Not the best idea but a thought.
That is very nice of you. My husband is a teacher.

I have found that gift cards are usually the best bet - you can get them for Blockbuster, coffee shops, pretty much anything. You can have each child make a nice presentation for it maybe a coffee can pencil holder with some sort of holder for the card itself.
i always end up at FamilyFun.com. Great site, great mag with a ton of great ideas.
Good luck!

I suggest ornaments. You can have the kids make them...or buy one. Teachers get so many gifts...an ornament with your child's name can become part of their tree at home or at school and they tend to be more precious rather than just something else to dust.

you should get your kids to make something as home made gifts are always nicer....we make shortbread cookies and the kids decorate them....homemade soaps....men are hard ....one year we made a box with different nails and screws things like that (hopefully they are handymen)....most department stores have little or big gift baskets already made up from lollies and chocolate to BBQ stuff and beverages (Kmart is a good place to look or Big W) ...good luck and merry Christmas

a lot of teachers spend their own money on various items and supplies for their classrooms. maybe you could put together gift baskets that have various things that they would use during the year....i.e... pencils pens, erasers, dry erase markers, sharpies, stickers, crayons, markers, construction paper, notebooks et cetera. also items that might make their classrooms look nicer like plants are nice as well. get creative. have fun!!!!
