Myanmar people know Burmese Buddhism which is a beautiful unique culture. They do not know democracy which is based on Christianity.
They understand Kings and they want fair Kings.
They do not like foreigners and foreign influence in their country. The next protest will be to Chinese owned shops in Mandalay.
If you want democracy in Burma, all of them has to learn English first. Or all of them have to become Christians first which will never happen.

THERE'S NO HOPE IN NEAR FUTURE TO HAVE DEMOCRACY IN THIS BUDDHIST COUNTRY.
THE ARMY HAS TASTED POLITICAL POWER AND THE POWER OF THE GUN.IN SUCH A SITUATION, THE UNO MUST PUT PRESSURE ON THE MYANMAR GOVT. WITH TIME FRAME TO CONDUCT FAIR ELECTION UNDER THE INTERNATIONAL SUPERVISION; FAILING WHICH RIGOROUS ECONOMIC AND OTHER SANCTIONS MUST BE IMPOSED.
THE GREAT POWERS WHO ARE MAINLY INTERESTED IN STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE OF A COUNTRY, HARDLY FIND ANY INTEREST IN RESTORING LONG FORGOTTEN DEMOCRACY IN MYANMAR.
THE NEGHBOURING COUNTRIES ARE EQUALLY GUILTY IN SUSTAINING THE AUTOCRATIC RULE OF THE ARMY .
IT'S A TRAGEDY THAT LONG AGO , THE UN GENERAL SECRETARY WAS OF BURMA(FORMERLY CALLED).IT'S ALSO A BUDHIST COUNTRY/NATION.
AS THE GROUND REALITY IS PREVAILING THERE, IT SEEMS , MYANMAR MAY BECOME A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY ONLY AFTER AFGHANISTAN EMRACES MODERN DEMOCRACY.
