My grandmother died 2years ago and I was really close to her. I have a little girl on the way and I wanted to name her Ardessie....which it's my grandmothers name.....Alot of people said that name is too country and old....I kinda agree...So can you guys think of a name thats like similar to the name Ardessie?

Im talking about for her middle name....Her first name is Arianna. Note: I want her name to be something like Ardessie but sound similar to that name.

Arianna Ardessi sounds fine if that is what you want to use. Dont worry about what 'a lot of people' of have said. It doesn't matter if its not their child. Your grandmother obviously meant a lot to you and her name is important, not a variation of it.
My grandmother passed away last month and I just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant (I think it was a gift from her! she knew I wanted one more!) I will be naming the baby 'something Kate' if it is a girl because that was her name. I wouldn't care if her name was Mildred, I'd still be using it because it means something to me.
Stick with Arianna Ardessie or Arianna Dessie. Its beautiful and meaningful!
best of luck

I think that's a lovely idea, Ardessie is a beautiful name. :-)
If I were you I would just keep Ardessie as a middle name and choose something else as the first. Usually it's a good idea to choose names that start with different first letters - because Arianna Ardessie would give her the initials AA - which also stands for Alcoholics Anonymous or Automobile Association. So it may be nice to give her a different first name. I think these would sound rather nice...
Imogen Ardessie
Morgan Ardessie
Belinda Ardessie
Courtney Ardessie
Lily Ardessie
But I'm sure you can think of more. Good luck! :-)

I don't understand. Why not keep her middle name as Ardessie? Because some people say it's too country or old? So.
You stated you were really close to your grandmother, but because "a lot of people" have said certain things about her name, you now want something *similar* to her name....so actually you wouldn't be naming you're daughter after your late grandmother (as you originally desired)...instead, you're naming her something *similar*. That's kind of like giving your grandmother 2nd place, runner up. :-(
It's a wonderful gesture to name your daughter after your grandmother, and I bet your grandmother would have been honored. I'm sure your grandmother influenced you more than "a lot of people" ever could. Please don't be swayed because of negative opinions.

The only name I can think of is Ardith which is an old-fashioned name, too. But old-fashioned names are in now -- at least by the movie stars. Since its a middle name I would go for it. Or how about using your grandmother's maiden name as a middle name - that would be kinda cool.

Maybe you could put Ardessie as a middle name cause if i were going to name a child after someone like that i would not change the name, i would use the exact name but maybe not for a first name.

You could always use it as a middle name - no need to butcher it to fit a first name. a middle name is a nice tribute
But if you want it as a first name use it. Let your little girl know how special the name is too!

I think Ardessie is a really pretty name. So what if it is old fashioned? It has charm unlike these new names people keep coming up with. I like it and would go with it if I were you.

You could do something like "sedra" which is the first part spelled backwards.. because it's the start of a new generation.
I think it's great you're carrying on her name.. sorry to hear about her death- I wish she could have met your little baby girl.
You could also split the name up, like: dessie, ardess, essie, etc.. Good luck & congrats on the pregnancy!
