Use the ALT key and the numbers on the numerical keypad.

i.e. press ALT and type 3 numbers on the pad - release ALT and the special character will appear.

On wordpad, can you use the 'Insert' command like on Word? If so, it will go something like this: Go to the top navigating tab and click 'Insert', 'Symbol' then click on the 'Special Characters' tab. Aternatively, you could have them all typed out in the code beforehand and just cut and paste them.
