Here is some statisics I found on the web and an article ive put a link to about factor affecting survival.
21 weeks or less: 0% survival rate
22 weeks: 0-10% survival rate
23 weeks: 10-35% survival rate
24 weeks: 40-70% survival rate
25 weeks: 50-80% survival rate
26 weeks: 80-90% survival rate
27 weeks: greater than 90% survival rate
The 21 week survival number may be higher than zero , but I havent found the documentaion to prove it. I know That Hospitals send preganant women 20 weeks and greater to Labor and Deliver and women less than 20 weeks to the ER.

23 weeks is the magic number. The more weeks past 23 the better the chances. 26 weeks has a very good chance of not only surviving but going onto a compete normal life (after some extended time in the hospital). Good Luck

First let me say that my prayers are with the family. Next I would like to say that there is a very good chance the baby will survive. Babies are fighters and dont give up cause they know someone is here to love them. Next I want to tell you that my cousin was born @ 24 weeks and that was 4 1/2 years ago. The doctors said she wouldnt survive but she did. NOw I call her my lil angel and its a joy to be around some1 so precious. First pray...next dont let the doctors tell u the baby wont survive becuase they will fight...then dont say phrases like if they baby lives or blah k...Have faith and believe that there are other cases like yours and the baby's are living..good luck and God Bless.

Highly likely he/she will survive. Unless there are any underling problems that may cause him/her troubles. My friend had her baby boy at 27 weeks due to preclampsia(how ever you spell it). Although he was given steroids to help his lungs 1 day before he was born. He was born perfect and healthy. Never needed oxygen just a feeding tube as he was to small and couldn't suck. He is now 6 months old and a little budda (still in small clothes, but a fatty) He spent about 8 weeks in hospital. He only needed to be there until he was a certain weight, not due to health problems. Good luck.

I didn't know the chances for survival and good health were so high as others have said but we have made great improvements at saving premature babies. I suspect that 35 years ago survival would have been unlikely. Good luck and hope all goes well.

The baby has a good chance, but I would still hold off on buying baby clothes for a few weeks. Should the baby not make it, you don't want too many reminders laying around for the mother to deal with.

It is very possible nowadays. My sister gave birth around 25 weeks and the child is now 10 and has no disabilities at all.
She's a big girl, healthy and smart.
I also have a cousin who gave birth at 27 weeks and her son is fine.
There is so much technology now, it is very possible.

Quite possibly. 26 weeks is almost the minimum gestation for a viable pregnancy.
Check out these cuties for some inspiration!

Sienna's story gives some good detail about what to expect.
