These are ESL students with pretty high fluency, but they aren't familiar with antiquated language and I don't want anything too hard to understand.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Emma Lazarus, 1883

at least the last part:

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Ladles and Jelly Spoons
I come before you to stand behind you
And tell you something I know nothing about

Next Thursday, the day after Friday
There will be a lady's meeting for men only
Wear you best clothes if you haven't any

Admission is free, you can pay at the door
We'll give you a seat so you can sit on the floor
It makes not difference where you sit
The kid in the galley is sure to spit

Two dead boys got up to fight, back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other. A deaf policeman heard the noise and came to kill the two dead boys. I do not know the author, my Dad told this to me when I was very young and years later (college graduate), I still remember it. I think because something is wrong with this poem. I will let you figure this one out.
