You have uncovered a secret plot by manufacturers of containers. They stick those stickers on jars so that you will open it and say "Damn, now I can't use it!" and go out and buy an unopened one.

Hence, the container manufacturers are running a scam to get your money; and by a happy coincidence, the manufacturers of the items IN the containers get the same results.
