hey..i was reading the rulebook, version 6.0 and on the page where it talks about summoning, it says for SET, you do NOT need to tribute for Level 5 or higher...so i can basically play something like BEWD for example, face down def without having to tribute, then flip it up next turn and attack with it...just wondering if someone can confirm that for me? cuz im having a really hard time believing this

The rulebook i read this in came with a structure deck i bought, so im sure its legit...probably just a MASSIVE mistake in printing though

k after what mdekok posted, i'm pretty sure it's just a misprint in my rulebook, cuz i've got the same book thats in the link he put in there, and it specifically says you do not need to tribute...oh well so much for my plans lol

Absolutely false.
I quote "You do need to Tribute in order to Set
Monsters that are Level 5 or higher."

It must be a misprint of some sort, a monster of level 5 or higher does require a tribute of 1 monster (5 or 6 stars) or 2 monsters (7 or higher). You can however, tribute the necessary amount of monsters and then set your monster and flip summon it later, though you wont need to tribute to flip summon since you've already tributed already. In some cases you can summon without a tribute, but only if a card effect says so, like Majestic Mech - Ohka.

Well, that would be amazing, but it's not true. You have to tribute 2 monsters for LV 7 or higher and 1 monster for LV 5 and 6 even if you set them.

Huh!? Are you sure it's a genuine rulebook? That's the only thing I can think of, unless it's a really big misprint! Anyway, yeah of course you have to tribute monsters. Sorry if it ruined any big plans.

Any monster whose level 5 or higher, YOU MUST tribute the required number(s) of tributing in order to summon or set.

You set the card first. Then, when you flip it you MUST tribute a monster.
