I had the same problem. My brother and, I used to watch this show called shock theater. they would show a different horror movie, every SATURDAY night and, I would always go to sleep before, the movie ended. when I woke up, the test pattern, would be on and, all those little black and, white dots. just when I thought that, I could get up, I would start seeing stuff, in the dots and, be afraid to get up so, I would end up covering up My head and, sleeping in the living room. I also, used to stare at Myself in the mirror until, I was afraid to walk away.

Agh, yeah, that high-pitched whine a channel makes when it goes off the air is awful. Scared me when I was a kid, too.
When I was a kid I used to get really upset when I heard a room full of people laughing because once my parents had friends over and the entire room burst out laughing, by coincidence, exactly when I walked into the room. I became convinced that whenever people laughed they were always laughing at me. I still get nervous when I hear people in another room laughing, although I know better now; I think it's a conditioned response.

I remember being scared of that too. Now I'm not really "scared" of it, but it does seem creepy in a way.
I guess the closest thing to a lingering fear from childhood, for me, is claustrophobia. My dad threw my blanket over my head and tucked it under my legs like a tent when I was around 2...according to my mom. I remember being terrified that I couldn't breathe and screamed to get out. To this day I hate having anything cover my face and don't like confinement of any kind.
Maybe that qualifies...I'm not sure..

I still feel a little bit scared when I hear the original music to Dr Who. I remember hiding behind my friend's sofa as a child with my other little friends and only coming out when the music had finished. Still sends a bit of a chill down the old spine 35 years later!

I have a tough time sleeping sound at night. I always get a little anxious when bed time rolls near and I've had insomnia for as long as I can remember.
I'm not sure, but I think it stems from my childhood and my dad getting drunk and you never knew from one night to the next if he was going to come staggering into our room and wake up kids up to sit on the couch and listen to his war stories and watch him sob over the bombs he dropped. And we were like 6 and 7 and still have to get up in a few hours for school after listening to that babble all night. But that's just a guess.

maybe its because its the sine that the day has come to an end and its final.its like waiting for the last bus home when you have been at your lovers place all evening .when you see it in the distance ,you suddenly feel low .but remember its not the end its just telling you OK time for a rest you can pick up where you left off tomorrow.and look forward to it.

Maybe they're simply memories of what you used to fear.
Why don't you try having someone around when this happens, see if it still makes you scared. It's really all about getting over it even if it is a fear, you have to try to help yourself because if you don't try different scenarios, then you probably won't get over this fear.
It's not that big of a fear honestly, but it would be nice to overcome it.
My fear are fishes. Idk why. I don't even eat fish unless it doesn't look like fish, like tuna in a can!

Too many Poltergeist movies maybe...The beeping and sounds of the TV off air sounds like an Alien Invasion to me.
No, I think those sounds came from my mother's bedroom, that is what I was scared of.

I used to have a phobia of getting shots. Only recently did I overcome it to the point that now I just reeeeeally don't like them.
I also used to be very afraid of going underwater, especially in water over my head. I think it was because I was afraid of not coming up, and I had a swimming teacher who forced me to go under when I wasn't ready. Now it's not that scary, unless it's water over my head. I still don't do that.

I use to be afraid of the holes (like air bubbles) on the side of the Mayo jar when I was a kid LOL. I don't know why and I know it's crazy. My sister will still get a jar stick it in my face and go BOO! Yes, I still get teased.
