There seems to be some discrepancy in the answers everyone provided for question 6 ("If an animal’s blood never comes in direct contact with its tissues, the animal has an open circulatory system.")
If I'm not mistaken, this is certainly false. In fact, it is more accurate to say that animals with closed circulatory systems such as humans never have blood come into direct contact with their tissues. This is because in a closed circulatory system, blood is contained within blood vessels under normal situations and the nutrients in blood diffuse out into tissue fluid, which all tissues are bathed in. As a result, blood doesn't come into direct contact with the tissues other than the vessel walls (endothelium).
However, in open circulation, there are no capillaries that extend throughout the body, and blood flows freely by diffusion to all parts of the body. In this case, tissue fluid and blood are one and the same (and known scientifically as haemolymph/hemolymph), and blood has to come into direct contact with body tissues to allow exchange of nutrients and gases.
