yes. i was an angst-ridden teen who wrote essays, poems & whatnot in the same tone as that book's by J.D. Salinger. i also listened to music that conveys frustration, pain, being misunderstood... i was also stubborn to the point of being obstinate.

as i grew older, i mellowed down but my stubborn, independent, rebellious self is just too hard to completely shed....

i think there will always be that side of me that has a penchant for not really breaking the rules but bending them to suit me... a side that from time to time rebels over authority and refuses to back down when i know that my point is worth fighting for... i know because i am a nonconformist.

‘Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.’
— Cecil Beaton

let me just clarify though that i have never smoked, i rarely drink and i don't engage in PMS... and yeah, i curse but only mildly because i have never undergone what holden went through. :) i meant my thoughts (can be radical), are that of a nonconformist.

As I review my life, I think I haven't had a chance to be a catcher in the rye. But I'd like to think that I may have been in one way or another and that I just wasn't aware of it. And for the future, I'd like to become one.

Yours truly is certainly not controversial to this day, for either a liberal use of profanity, or publicly discussing sexuality and teenage angst !
As such, I can hardly qualify to be rated on par with young Holden Caulfield, the protagonist of J. D. Salinger's 1951 novel 'The Catcher in the Rye' ["the most banned book in United States as well as the second most taught book in public schools"] !
:-))
