Some people just amaze / confuse me because one moment they are so happy and fun to be with then later, they will withdraw within themselves, get quiet & reserved, even at some points become moody, brooding and temperamental... What gives?

what is mood and why does it have to swing?

is it because of misundertandings? a news, a debate, an event or someone? in my opinion mood swings are expressions of ones reaction depending on his/her personality.

i admit, I am extremely moody, highly subjective and exaggerated. i believe this is an act of my insanity it does not need cure it needs more understanding.

There can be several reasons for "alarming mood swings"
The two most common are bi-polar disorder and PTSD.
Bi-Polar Disorder requires a doctors diagnosis and usually medication. PTSD also requires a doctors diagnosis but it can be controlled or even cured. I and my wife both have PTSD. She was traumatized as a child and I got mine in combat.
If you have a friend with these symptoms .....be a friend.....advise him or her to seek medical treatment.... The Philippines has an excellent Mental Health Program.

If you broke your leg you would get medical treatment..... A bruised or sick mind is like any other part of the body.....if it is broke; fix it. There is no shame in seeking treatment.....the SHAME is not getting treatment

I suffered from mood swings. That was part of my PMS(post-menopausal syndrome). I don't know about the people you mentioned, why the erratic behavior. Not psychological, I hope.
