I don't mean to get pornographic, but suppose one is writting a fan fiction on Lord of the Rings: Elves, asides from the top of their head, are hairless. Do elves have pubic hair?

I do not remember the site where I seen some drawing of Elves posed in the nude and the artist did give them pubic hairs. If I come across the site again, I'll forward it to you.

When an author creates a fictional creature, he can establish whatever traits he chooses, even if no living being has ever has those traits. Since Tolkein did not address the pubic hair issue, the facfic author is free to create detail as needed.

If I were writing LOTR fanfic, I'd give them sparse pubic hair limited to a small area, because far too many readers interpret hairless as juvenile and infer an interest in pedophilia. Some people, huh?

Unless you're getting right on in there and writing about elf pubic hair, for some reason I can't fathom at the moment, I think that problem would rest solely with an illustrator, if fanfic is illustrated. Anyway, I wouldn't worry much about it. If you want to write about that sort of thing it's up to you! Fanfic has a pretty free rein on where it goes from an original actual book, right?

And if they have green hair, does the carpet match the drapes?

That would be at the author's (your) discretion.
