we have a school musical for our school this year. its high school musical. sucks huh? something worse? i got dared to try out and make it. would you try out?

I have been in musical theater all my life. It has given me a lot of joy. I have learned a lot and met some wonderful people. Open up your life to new things, especially music. Music is the most wonderful thing in the world. All music, expresses stories, lives, etc. High School Musical is enjoyed by many around North America. You should try out for it, go prepared with a good song, that you like and can sing well, in the right key (not to high not to low). Know the song backwards and stand out there and feel the song.
If it is an upbeat number, move yourself a little. Musical Theater is loved by many and you never know, you may like it when you get into it and you may choose to this in the future for your career. If you have a dream, especially in Musical Theater, you can reach it if you want to.
Enjoy yourself. Don't take any notice of those that may ridicule you. One day you could be up there looking down on them, earning a lot of money, and they could be sitting in the audience looking up at you.

It would depend on whether I was interested in acting. If you're interested in acting, I would go for it. It will be good experience for you and if you ever think about a career in acting, you will need all of the acting experience you can get.
When I went to high school (Abe Lincoln and I were classmates) they had some kind of acting group that put on plays. I never went out for that because I was afraid my friends would think I was a sissy.
Now, I wish I had tried out for it. I think that acting would be fun and if you like it, there are enough community theater groups that you could probably act all of your life as a hobby or something like that.
Because your friends dared you and because you're asking if you should do it, I suppose you must have some interest in acting.
In any case, I hope something I have said has been helpful.
