I hate being broke at Christmastime...it doesn't ruin things but it definitely doesn't feel good to get expensive gifts from family/friends when you can't afford to give one in return. Usually people are nice about it, but I can't help but feel bad and hope they understand I didn't get a nice gift because I'm broke, not because I'm cheap or because I don't care enough.

Not having my Father ruined our Christmas.

My Aunt Mary died and her funeral was Christmas Eve. (1980)
Then, My Grandpa, (I was very close to him) his funeral was 12/22/86.
Then New Years, 1989 my Grandma died and a week later, My Aunt Avis.
The Holidays can be very depressing for me. I would have to say death can ruin my Christmas. It's done it before.

I do not celebrate Christmas simply becuase I do not have a family of my own and I live alone beside my 4 dogs so I usually take time to call all my siblings and thier families and parents and take in a quiet day. I have doene this for fourteen years. I do look forward to calling them but this year the ones who have computers we will be video confrencing. Whooo Hooo.

Christmas is a lousy time for me, because I have no family, and my best friends are two hours away. What I have nearby are more acquaintances than really friends.

Thanksgiving is pretty depressing, too.

fighting and arguing from/with the family. Yeah that's a major downer. I'd rather have everyone get along than all the gifts in the world. ♥

Xmas can ruin a perfectly good month. And it does, every year.
