pi is an irrational number. It is a non-terninating decimal.
pi=3.1452(approximetly)
It is used in finding the circumfrence and area of the circle and many other stuffs.

Actually it is Pi X D where D is twice R (which is the radius of a cirdle). Pi is a constant in formulae solving relationships in a circle. Pi X 2 X R = Pi X D(diameter of a circle) = Circumference.

PI is the relationship of the diameter of a circle to it's circumference. The circumference is always Pi time greater than the diameter, no matter how large or how small the circle is. For approximation we say that Pi is equal to 3.1415 but it actually is a number that never seems to end. So what you do is use as much of it as you need to get an answer as exact as you need. Windows calculator gives it as 3.141592653589793284626433832795 but mainframe computers have been put on the calculation for years and not gotten to the end or to a place that the number repeats.

Pi (π) is about 3.14159. It is usually just left as π for a more exact answer. Basically, π is the number of times a line passing through the center of a circle starting and ending on the outer curve (the diameter line) can wrap around the outside of the circle.

In numbers there is a group of numbers called irrational number.

Irrational numbers mean that they cannot be expressed in the form of ratio of two integers like P/Q

√2 is an example.
What we can say about √2 is,
1.41 > √2 > 1.4
1.41 4> √2 > 1.41
1.41 42> √2 > 1.414.
where the left and right numbers are rational numbers.
1.41 = 141 / 1000 etc.

We can always find a nearest rational number to the given irrational number. But we can never equate an irrational number to a rational number.
---------------------------------------------------
If one asks how many times the circumference of is a circle is that of its radius? The answer is we cannot express it exactly.
The irrational number π is such that
3.14 > π > 3.1
3.141 > π > 3.14
3.1415 > π > 3.144
We can always find a nearest rational number to the irrational number π. But we can never equate π to a rational number.
---------------------------------------------------
Hence when we write π = circumference of circle / 2 radius or circumference of circle = 2 π R, we must remember that strictly speaking the equation is not exact.
What we mean by π in this equation is the nearest rational number to π, which we can take as 3 or 3.1 or 3,.14 or 3.141 or 3.1415 and so on.

For most practical purpose the value 3.14 holds good.

Pi or Pie is the Ratio of the Circumferance or Perimeter of a Circle to its Diameter as

pie is equal to
Circumfarence or Perimeter
--------------------------------------
Diameter(2 times the Radius).

Remember "Pi" or "Pie" is called 'Irrational Number" and NOT a "Rational" number.

It can be "APPROXIMATED" to 3.14(Upto 2 digits) and can be further approximated to
22
---
7

But note that pi is NOT simply 22/7.

It is the "ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter".

Go to this page - look at the animated picture on the right. It illustrates the notion of pi quite nicely.

Diameter = 2 x radius. So yes.

pi means the constants value that involve rotational figures and curve line.every point of the circle always involve pi and protional to its diameter of the circle or any curves line.
