Past life regression is a technique used by some; meditation may help; being 2-4 years old is perhaps best for personal awareness.

"The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?", Free and Wilcock, is a clear example of the level of intuition and awareness such determination takes.

The process is basically this: God ordains a soul-initiative, an embodiment, for a lifestream. The lifetime has some intended lessons, goals, and when the soul passes from the screen of life, it moves through a second stage of further learning and requalification. What of the soul that embodies the Word of Truth, Life, Love, and so forth, becomes a permanent portion of that lifestream's attainment and awareness. It is seamless, not conflicting, at that level, which is termed the "Second Heaven." (See "Watch Your Dreams," Ann Ree Colton, for some helpful diagrams.)
Another soul-initiative, separate from the prior, is ordained, and the learning and attainment cycle continues. For such an embodied soul to remember a past life is either rare, at the Second Heaven level of awareness, or, more typically, the soul, meeting past life tendencies, is able to intuit something of what energies occurred previously. Such "samskaric" ("tendencies") memories are noted by e.g. Tibetan Buddhist monks fairly often, and while some childhood interest may persist, Tibetan monks, among others, note that the interests usually become displaced by current surround activities. However, Self-realization or awareness, such as in the Free and Wilcock case, may be building for a more profound purpose.
An example of reincarnation patterns which were very similar: Saint Thomas a Beckett reembodied as Saint Thomas More, with much the same karmic and spiritual purpose and adversaries. Another example is Saint Mark and Saint Bonaventure, both incarnations of the same Self or lifestream. In Saint Bonaventure's case, the profound Light and teaching received while a student of the Messianic Light of the World amplified and was deepened during that "Doctor of the Church" incarnation.
It is worth remarking that many "past life memories" are perhaps more like "soul mates" rather than "twin flames," i.e., similar patterns of actual life interests symbolized by a "great King" or "famous artist of the time," rather the actual life one lived. In this sense, many of our lives today are rather similar, e.g. many people like Major League Baseball, but few are players at that level, although many have played on high school teams, etc. (Kindly note "Soul Mates and Twin Flames," Elizabeth Clare Prophet.)

You can't.
We know that preception is everything and we are capable to inventing things, dreaming things, etc. So called 'memories' can't be trusted.
Go on with THIS life and make it the best you can for yourelf and others.
