Me and my husband just realized when we were looking over the baby items and stuff (to make sure we have everything that we need) and saw that we never bought a bassinet or playpen or anything like that to have the baby near us at night in the begginng. He suggested that we could just pull her crib in our room.. Would that be ok?

Of course it's okay. A baby only fits in a bassinet for about 3 months anyway. You can get the playpen later but they aren't a necessity.

If your crib is anything like mine that's going to be such a headache to move from room to room... I would buy a portable crib..... bassinets are great... but when the baby out grows it (about 5 months) then you still need a playpen... a portable crib can be used as a playpen or you can just store it away until you need it again... most portable cribs I've looked at even have a built in changing table and a mobile.. everything you need in a zip up case the size of a duffel bag... trust me, I have a 7 month old and my portable crib is the one thing I've used everyday since he's come home from the hospital! Good luck and congrats!

Yes, it would be alot better actually. It would get the baby more used to sleeping in the crib. Most people have a very hard time getting their babies to sleep in a crib. With my son, he would be sleeping and as soon as I layed him in the crib he would start crying. I kept the crib in my roon for the first few months. Plus, why waste the money. Honest! I mean you can only use most bassinetes for 3 months anyway. A playpen could be good, because that would get alot of use, especially when they get older. But a bassinet, my honest opinion is a waste of money. Im glad I never got one. Good Luck!!!

you can do this but I would suggest you get a Pack and play with a changer and bassinet attached. You can remove these later when the child is bigger. I had a bassinet as well but it is not necessary. I used my pack and play more than any other baby equipment I've had. If you are a heavy sleeper or are breast feeding you should put the baby in your room. It is no big deal to use the crib only though, I just think that you will love your pack n play and it is definitely not a purchase you will regret.

you sure can. We used the playpen simply because it was portable. It also had the little changing table and the bassinet thing, then when baby was too big or starting to move around more, we simply took off the basinet part of the playpen and put him in the actual playpen. It was awesome, three things in one, it's affordable, and portable! But it's totally ok if you want to wait for the playpen. It may be a pain to move it back and forth, but there is nothing wrong with it at all. Good luck, God Bless, and Congrats!

Yeah, i didn't set up the paypen until the other day and my baby is now 5 months old. before that i usually just carried her around in the mei-tai. she basically napped a lot in it and i think that helped her sleep at night, too.
i just had the instinct to sleep with the baby after many exhausting nights of trying to get her to put her down in the crib. co-sleeping is great and as soon as she adjusted from her sleep schedule in the womb(took about 3-4 weeks) she was sleeping 12-13 hour nights and waking every couple of hours to feed - which i would just scoot her to the fullest breast and fall back asleep. if you are skeptical of co-sleeping, read the last chapter of Maya Angelou's " I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" it's cute. And after about 6 months you can start putting baby in a crib, in case you're worried about her sleeping with you until she's 18 lol. that's what we're slowly workign on. smooth sailing. another mom i know had a bassinet near her bed for the first couple of months and then moved baby to a crib in the next room around 10 months old, she said that was nice, too. The only downside to co-sleeping, for me, is that you I don't really get much space to just stretch out my arms and legs, I instinctively lay on my side, very still, and it can be restricting.
good luck!

I don't recommend (from experience) having a baby in the parents room anymore. I had an awful awful time trying to get my son in his own room after a few months. It was torture for him and me!
I think putting the baby in his or her own crib from the beginning with the baby monitor on in your room so you can hear everything is the best idea.

With playpen's, i think if you are going to use one you need to start it as early as possible otherwise they will hate being put in it later on. But its not really for sleeping, unless you mean portable cot-play pen type one. Even still, have it in the living room not bedroom.

the thing I recommend for keeping bubs close to you during the day is a 'fisher price electric take-along swing.' you can very easily carry them from room to room or even in the car with you. At night I think a rocking chair or some sort of comfy chair in the babies room so when they wake up you can go in and feed in there and then put them straight back in the crib. This way they get used to it from day one and you should never have a problem with sleep and settling. It might not seem important now but trust me, getting a sleep routine started early is the single most important thing you will learn as a parent! I'm trying to give you a heads up, lol!

best of luck and enjoy your new baby when it arrives!

yes that would be fine my daughter was only in her s for about a week, as long as the baby is next to you it'll be ok , its probebly better that the baby will be in it from birth then you dont have to go through the upset nights when you are trying to get the baby to start sleeping in the cot, just make sure you do the feet to foot position, so the baby cant go under the covers, but i bet you already know that... good luck and hiope birth goes fine...
