Why are people sheepish enough to do whatever the corporate owned political machine orders them to?

"You WILL vote for this person!" "So speaketh the party!"

Flatiron (below) Interesting. So the FACT that Red state residents are the majority of social program recipients never entered your train of thought? Not surprised.

Unlike you. I'm not going to knock Red staters for the failings of their elected officials to undue their policies of poverty. I know that Red staters are hard workers. They just have extremely poor leadership in many of their states.

if you think the elections we have are not pointless, then you are one of the sheeple. There are a few international banking familes who funnel money to both parties to keep The Country exactly as it is Divided....with a congress incapable of accomplishing anything.
edit-it amazes me (as manifested by all the down thumbs) that so many people think that such a thing just couldn't be true...and that they couldn't possible have been duped...lol....stay asleep and reproduce -higher population means more competing for jobs=increased corporate profits and increased chaos in the workforce(smaller chance of workers organizing)...and the stores are open...come and consume...lots of products to distract you from the existential nightmare you live in.

because they are followers. I myself will vote for whom I believe will do the best job, and actually neither party at this time, am I real happy with, nor with those who have chosen to run for president in either party. What I can say, is that I will not vote for Hillary, because she has already been in the white house running the show, If any thinks that Bill was controlling it then you are a complete fool. But nothing was accomplished when she there before. I am not voting for Obama, because no matter what he says, he is Muslium...he was born and raised a Muslium. He has now stopped placing his hand over his heart when the pledge is said or when the star spangle banner is played....Him being President is just like spitting in the faces of all those Americans, men, women and children who perished on 9-11, alond with every American that has died at the hands of Muslium terrorist. voting for John Edwards....nah, and he is from my home state. But everyone does not know the whole story about Mr. Edwards, he is famous here in Raleigh for jogging down the middle of the road holding up traffic, and when someone would blow their horn at him, Mr. Edwards would flip them off. The only cases that he would take, were those that brought him not only attention, but Big $$'s. The Republician party is just as bad as the democrats. The ones who are running have no clue as to what it is like to be the median income people, they are not your general "working class" Neither party has no clue, they would if they would listen to what our real issues are and stop saying and promising things that they know that they will not deliver on. Politics in this county has gone down hill since the Reagan days. Reagan gave you hope, he wanted you and told you that you can be the best that you can be, you can be successful. He believed in us, and he truly loved this country. We are far from those days, and it is such a shame that we are.

Why do you conservatives say we liberals are on welfare. I don't even know anybody on welfare. All of the Democrats I know either work hard or own businesses. At one time, I owned three different businesses. I sold the last one, a golf course, and retired. Voting the party line makes sense to me. I don't agree with the Republican platform at all, and I can't hope that a Republican that I would vote for would follow the Democratic platform. I don't vote for the "popular" people...I vote for people who share my interests. Nothing else makes sense.

On the national level parties usually determine outcomes, and parties serve interest groups that support them. For example, pro choice republican will vote to confirm a pro life justice to the court if he is appointed by a republican president. As long of our members of congress vote the parties position, it make sense to vote for the party that we agree with most. This is particularly true in the house where the majority controls the agenda.

Because politics are boring and people don't want to think about it. I don't like to think of myself as a sheep, but I'm already sick of the 2008 presidential election.

Besides, I am not sure how much it actually matters. Our politicians, all of them, have been bought like a bunch of hookers. You say it is the parties? I say it is the whole freaking system. The will of the people doesn't matter anyway, so why not just do what the party tells us to?

As a party activist I frequently do not vote for an incumbent of my party if I am not convinced s/he is representing my values.

Don't know if it has received nation wide attention but the party drones of the California Democratic party have asked the mucky mucks to censure Senator Dianne Feinstein for her recent voting record.

Probably won't happen but she did vote to not give retroactive immunity to the phone companies listening to phone calls to pass on to the government, that's yours and mine, when I say government.

WELL SAID, more Americans need to evaluate what they want from the government and not what their party or neighbors need. If everyone looked into themselves at what life is really like in their world they would find that our government needs more cooperation internally to make our lives better.

It's more like "you WILL vote for this person, because you should FEAR the other, and what they will do - even if you don't agree with 'our' candidate, the other is worse"

Worthless zombie sheeple.
