First, you're not alone when it comes to social difficulties. I find starting a conversation with unknown people hard sometimes. I usually find that asking people about themselves gets good answers and leads to further conversation. Things like:
Did you grow up around here? or
Did you grow up in (whatever state or area you're in)?
Make sure that you give the person some feedback which may prompt them to ask you a question. For example, if they answered "I was born in City A but I grew up in City B" then you may be able to respond with "Oh, City B - I have family there" or "I've never been to City A but I've always wanted to" or you may find with someone that you are from the same place! You never know.
Once you get going in the conversation, you usually feel more relaxed which makes for good conversation.
Remember to be sincere and show people that you are listening to them by looking at them (don't stare into their eyes though, that's creepy), nodding and responding to their part of the conversation.
Hoped I helped a bit. Good Luck - and have heaps of fun!!!!!!!!

Be confident!
Mingle, so start a small conversation about music or movies, say a few things and then move on.
Some folks like to act bored, don't, just act like you are a little busy or need a drink. Then you won't look like a jerk but still won't look like a dork.
If you hear someone talking about a subject your taking or someone you know then you can totally interupt with what you know about that topic.
It will be fun! See if there's anyone you know and ask them to introduce you to some people they know.

Do you usually go with a friend? You should do that and observe how your friend interacts with people. A good start is to introduce yourself to someone-maybe someone who isn't talking but sitting down doing nothing; approach them and start talking about anything. You could talk about what kind of music they're interested, football/basketball games (if you're a fanatic), tv shows. Don't reveal to them that you have Asperger's unless you'd like to. There's no right way to talk, but just go with the flow. :D

Smile a lot, act like your having a great time. People are drawn to those who are having fun, run from those who look morbid and lifeless. Participate in the craziness, Dont Do drugs for any reason, it is not cool, it is stupid..
