All the idiots that answered yes don't understand the role of the observer in phenomenal events.
Sunshine as a phenomena depends on an observer, just like a sound depends on someone to hear it. Certainly whatever material event that causes us to experience sunshine or a sound will occur, but neither sunshine nor a sound will occur without an observer.

Empiricist would answer that the idea that the sun would definitely shine tomorrow is only a habit or the mind's capacity to connect what seems to be causally related. And that we are not sure that the sun would really shine tomorrow.
But personally, i know it will shine tomorrow. Because it always has.

If a tree falls in the forest an no one is there to hear it does it make a sound?
Actually the answer is no...otherwise why even ask the question?
But seriously...
...the point is that events occur only because they are observed...reality and perception are the same (otherwise tell me something that you don't perceive).
...if you claim the tree makes a sound then clearly it has been observed to do so (it was 'seen') and you're simply saying that the same causes will result in the same effects.
But that's a presumption and it's not a fact unless it's observed..so you would have to perceive it to really know.
So it's actually no. There MAY be millions of events that happen all around us in the universe that we have no idea are there because we can't perceive them...and until we do perceive them it's silly to say they are real...please forward this to Shirley McClaine and others who claim that humans can perceive things that machines can't which is absolutely without merit.

The laws of physics and chemistry will continue to operate whether someone is there to observe them or not. They do not depend on an observer.
So the tree that falls in the forest will make a sound whether someone is there to hear it or not. And the sun will shine.

yes probie, the sun will shine tomorrow even if we are not here. The beauty of it will be missed though. Yes if a tree falls in a forest it will make a sound even if no one hears. The worlds is not base upon our perceptions, and gravity does exist.

Since it obviously shined before there was anyone to see it I think it is safe to assume it will shine if there is no one to see it; unless it goes nova and that is the reason we aren't there to see it.

That is both a stupid and trick question
its just like the: if a tree falls in a forest and no ones around to hear it, does it still make a sound. its just like that
and the answer is yes, just because no one sees it or hears it doesn't mean it didn't happen, or wasn't there

Yes. Just like when a tree falls in a deserted forest--it does still make noise, even though no one is there to hear it.

Of course it can. Do you think that we imagine the sun? It's there, whether anyone sees it or not (just like it is on a cloudy, rainy day).
