The Pilgrims of Plymouth Plantation were Separatist Calvinists who rejected the Church of England and wanted independent or congregational polity for their churches

Puritans were Calvinists within the Anglican Church who wanted to "purify" the Church of England of Catholic "left overs" and in New England functionally rekjected the Church of England. In England before the Cromwellian Civil War Puritans included those who wished to keep a reformed episcopal polity, presbyterian polity advocates and others.

Many, many moons ago when the Pilgrims set foot upon this sacred land called Plymouth Rock. Due to their bad planning and incompetance, they starved and were almost wiped out with the first Winter until a band of Native Americans saved their butts with food and shelter. As a gesture of "thanks" the Pilgrims put aside their arrogance and had a feast with the Native heathen. Unfortunately, this peace was not meant too last according to the mighty oracles because more greedy, arrogant, people from Europe would come and eventually ruin the sacred land and the Natives way of life.
Now that the conquest is complete, we celebrate the Day of Thanks as a tradition so that people will not pay attention to the great genocide that was doled out to the Native Americans of this land. So, enjoy your turkey and give thanks for the final result....our great Capitalist system and all it's goodies!
