I hope to study abroad for my senior year of high school (next year) and am trying to narrow down where I want to go. I have it narrowed down to Switzerland, Sweden, and Norway. Can all you travel aficionados tell me what the pros and cons are for each? I am hoping to stay in a more rural or suburban earea that is very family oriented, but the outdoors activities are my biggest concern. Thank you very much!!

In Norway and Sweden you have to be prepared for a long dark winter, but you get a long light summer as compensation.
If you from the warm sunny south that might be a bit of a problem.
Especially if you will be there all the winter but just a small part of summer.

In Switzerland you will have as much in winter sports but longer days.

I would say that you should decide on the quality of the given classes, and the language they come in.
If you need to learn Norwegian or Swedish to understand the lessons, you realize that you will not be able to use the languages in other countries.
The languages of Switzerland are also used in other countries although you will learn them with a local accent.
Even if your classes are in English, the local language might be a deciding factor, as it is much easier to communicate when you know the local language.

Whatever you do, enjoy your year abroad.

All countries have pros and cons, well I have visited these countries and they are absolutely beautiful, costumes , habits, places and food. Now if I have to choose one of this countries, I would choose Switzerland, it has an incredible amount of outdoors activities, beautiful trips by train through the mountains, the people are good and helpful, and you are closer to go to Italy, it is very near and remember that this country is surrounded by another countries, Austria,Germany, you will not regret. Good luck.
